MLS Vancouver Whitecaps 2 - 2 Colorado

Make it six. For the sixth consecutive game the Vancouver Whitecaps failed to win, drawing 2-2 with the Colorado Rapids. Vancouver kicked off the match in front of 18,992 fans at BC Place with a shot by Barry Robson. The quick attack required an early save by Matt Pickens, setting the pace of the first half. As the Whitecaps appeared to be dominating with speed, a rare Rapids possession gave Martin Rivero a chance to attack in the 34th minute. His shot hit the side post and rebounded to Omar Cummings. The Jamaican one-timed the ball into the net. The second half began as gritty as the first half ended, with both sided playing for a crucial win. Off a 64th minute corner kick, Gershon Koffie dodged Cummings and passed the ball to Alain Rochat. The Swiss defender redirected the ball into the goal, knotting the score at one apiece. The momentum from the tying goal led the Whitecaps to a quick follow up as Robson sent the ball Kenny Miller’s way. The substitute showed precision and gave the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead. In the 86th minute, Rapids midfielder Jamie Smith capitalized on some pinball action in the box, and buried it into the goal. This strike tied it up 2-2. The frantic race to score a winning goal was unrewarded, and both team walked away with a point.
