Sporting Kansas City dominated the first half, creating several chances and it was unlucky not to find the net as the match entered the break scoreless. Their best chance came through a Graham Zusi effort in the 12th minute. The second half was a more even affair, as the home side desperately tried to find a crucial winning goal. Davy Arnaud came the closest with a shot that just whizzed by the far post from inside the box in the 68th minute.
