Diamondbacks 8, Athletics 3: Miguel Montero belted his second career grand slam and Trevor Cahill handcuffed his former team over 7 1/3 innings as host Arizona posted its fourth straight win and sixth in seven games.
After Justin Upton snapped a tie with an RBI double in the fifth inning, the Diamondbacks loaded the bases with two outs in the frame. Montero launched a fastball from former Diamondbacks hurler Jarrod Parker (2-3) into the second deck in center field to give Arizona a 6-1 advantage.
Jason Kubel collected three hits - including an RBI single in the first inning - and Paul Goldschmidt extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a run-scoring single in the eighth.
The offense was more than enough for Cahill (4-5), who won his second straight start after going winless for more than a month. He allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out seven.
Kurt Suzuki and Jemile Weeks had RBI doubles for the Athletics, who have dropped two straight and fell to 4-5 in June.
